Drug: Edarbi (azilsartan)

What is azilsartan (Edarbi)? Azilsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Azilsartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.Azilsartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Azilsartan may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

What are the possible side effects of azilsartan (Edarbi)? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.Call your doctor at once if you have:
  • feeling like you might pass out;
  • urinating less or not at all;
  • confusion, loss of appetite, vomiting, pain in your side or lower back; or
  • swelling, rapid weight gain.
Other common side effects may include:
  • diarrhea, nausea;
  • cough;
  • muscle spasm;
  • mild dizziness; or
  • weakness, tired feeling.

What other drugs will affect azilsartan (Edarbi)? Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with azilsartan, especially:
  • any other heart or blood pressure medications;
  • a diuretic or "water pill"; or
  • a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others.
