Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using acetylcysteine inhalation and call your doctor at once if you have:

  • chest tightness; or
  • trouble breathing.

Common side effects may include:

  • sticky feeling around the nebulizer mask;
  • white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • fever, runny nose, sore throat;
  • drowsiness; or
  • cold and clammy skin.
