Official Title: Study Protocol of a Prospective European Multicenter Study on Aortic Valve Replacement: (E-AVR Registry)

Brief Summary:

Clinical evidence in aortic valve surgery is mainly due to retrospective, single-center studies. This can be a significant limitation in the analysis of the critical factors in the treatment of patients affected by severe aortic stenosis. In order to avoid these methodological limitations, the investigators have planned a European, multicenter, prospective on surgical aortic valve replacement (both traditional and innovative techniques), the E-AVR registry.

This registry will collect prospective data from 19 cardiac surgery centers in university or regional hospitals in seven European countries (England, Italy, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland) and will form an observatory on the real world of everyday practice aortic valvular surgery, both with traditional and innovative approaches.

The main objective to pursue is that the E-AVR register can provide valid data to identify risk factors and strategies associated with sub-optimal results in the various aortic valve replacement techniques. This information can improve the safety and durability of aortic valve replacement. In addition, the proposed identification and classification of postoperative complications can become a valuable research tool to stratify the impact of these complications on the results of these patients and evaluate the load of the resources needed for their treatment.
